Repairing a soap dispenser – 3 essential tips. Do it yourself!

Chances are we’ve all dealt with a faulty soap dispenser that won’t dispense properly. While it may seem trivial, a clogged or malfunctioning dispenser is often a source of frustration when using the bathroom/restroom. Instead of buying a new one, try a few simple tips to get your dispenser working again. Here are 3 essential tips to fix your soap dispenser all by yourself!

Each of us has probably dealt at some point with a faulty soap dispenser that won’t dispense liquid properly. Although it may seem trivial, a clogged or malfunctioning dispenser is often a source of frustration when using the bathroom/toilet. Instead of buying a new model, try a few simple tips that will restore a faulty dispenser to working order. Here are 3 essential tips to help you fix your soap dispenser without anyone’s help!

1. The soap dispenser won’t pump? Identify the cause!

The moment you discover that your soap dispenser isn’t pumping liquid can be very frustrating. This small accessory has a very simple design, yet it fails for many reasons. For example, the dispenser may not work because there is a congealed lump of soap in the intake tube. Sometimes it’s simply damaged internal mechanisms that prevent it from working properly.

Before you buy a new soap dispenser, check what might be causing the fault in the one you have. Often it’s trivial and easy to solve, and the right approach can restore your dispenser to full working order. Most models are very simple both in use and in construction.

To diagnose the problem with the dispenser, start by gently twisting and pressing the pump mechanism — the blockage may be due to a simple jam. If that doesn’t help, dismantling the dispenser will let you identify congealed soap residue or other obstructions blocking its operation. Also make sure that the intake tube is properly connected and not damaged.

2. The soap dispenser isn’t working? Replace the faulty part!

Not every soap dispenser failure requires buying a new unit. Often it’s enough to replace certain parts. For example, if the spring in the dispenser is damaged, replace it with a new one instead of buying another accessory. Many shops offer repair kits for soap dispensers that contain the most commonly failing components.

Also check the condition of the tube in the dispenser. If it is kinked or too short, replace it with a new one. You can do this yourself very easily — its replacement is very intuitive. A minor tweak is often the key to restoring your soap dispenser to full functionality.

If the problem doesn’t lie with one specific fault, examine the dispenser mechanism. It may require complete replacement, but it’s certainly cheaper than buying a new dispenser. You can also find mechanisms for soap dispensers in our shop at an affordable price.

3. Take care of regular cleaning and maintenance of the dispenser

Regular cleaning and maintenance of the dispenser is the key to its long life. Congealed soap residues often block the mechanism responsible for the flow of liquid from the dispenser, so it’s worth regularly rinsing the accessory with warm water. This way you’ll avoid the build-up of residues and clumps that clog the dispenser tube, preventing the free flow of soap.

In addition to soap, limescale and deposits can also disrupt the operation of the dispenser. Regular cleaning and descaling will extend the life of your accessory. You may think it’s a time-consuming and demanding task. Nothing could be further from the truth. Use household products such as vinegar or lemon, which are great at removing mineral deposits from dispensers and restoring them to working order. Citric acid and warm water are a good option!

If you follow the above tips, your soap dispenser will certainly start working flawlessly again for a long time. Clean it regularly, address any faults promptly, and your soap dispenser will never lose its efficiency!

Remember, of course, that if all the above methods fail, the dispenser will need to be replaced. However, it’s not worth throwing away a dispenser you’ve had for a long time — it may be beautiful, it may be a keepsake or a small housewarming present, or simply an integral part of the decor. Before you throw it away, try to repair it — it’s a small effort!
