When choosing shower enclosures, however, it is worth paying attention to a few important criteria that will significantly facilitate the final purchasing decision. So, which shower enclosures do we recommend? Practical tips.

Shower enclosures – which criteria should you consider when buying?

The most important selection criterion is the size of the enclosure and where it will be placed – against a wall, in a corner or as a standalone unit. Next, consider its construction (framed or with handles) and colour scheme.

A The size of the shower enclosure

The most popular shower enclosures measure between 85 × 85 cm and 100 × 100 cm. Smaller models (e.g. 75 × 75 cm) are not particularly comfortable, although you can get used to them. A great alternative for small rooms are asymmetric rectangular shower enclosures (e.g. 80 × 100 cm, 60 × 90 cm). The tallest of them are from 190 to 220 cm, and the shortest even 165 cm (intended mainly for shower trays).

B Type of shower enclosure

There are three types of shower enclosures – corner, wall-adjacent and freestanding.

Corner enclosures are installed in a corner. They are usually circular, square or triangular in shape and, depending on their size, are intended for both small and large rooms.

Wall-adjacent enclosures adjoin one bathroom wall but require side panels. They take up considerably more space than corner enclosures, yet still look very aesthetically pleasing. They can be semicircular, square or rectangular.

Freestanding enclosures are intended for larger bathrooms, and even bathroom suites. They do not touch the walls and can be any shape. The decision to include a freestanding enclosure should be made before the installation design stage.

C Construction of the shower enclosure

The most popular are profile (framed) shower enclosures due to their affordable prices and very high watertightness when opening and closing. There are also frameless enclosures, distinguished by excellent visual qualities thanks to the small number of profiles and precise workmanship based on thick glass panes (4–8 mm).

The best shower enclosures in 2021 (in terms of functionality and materials used) feature glass 4–8 mm thick, finished in chrome, light gold or black, and are installed on a shower tray or directly on the floor. Depending on the colour scheme, the quality of the materials used and the opening method (sliding, hinged or folding) – we can single out three leaders from REA.

  • SHOWER ENCLOSURE REA MOLIER BLACK 100
  • SHOWER SCREEN REA BLER-2 120 WITH SHELF AND EVO HANGER
  • SHOWER ENCLOSURE SOLAR GOLD 90 × 120

The above options guarantee an exceptionally exclusive character for any bathroom. They are a striking visual element and stand out for their functionality and modern design. REA shower enclosures are not only for everyday body care. They also allow you to unwind, relax and prepare for the challenges ahead.

Which shower enclosures do we recommend? – summary

The choice of shower enclosure depends on the individual preferences of household members. However, it is worth paying attention to its size, type and construction. The thickness of the glass and hiring a professional installation company are also important, helping you avoid costly mistakes caused by unfit-for-purpose materials or improper sealing of the structure.
