Which bathroom tap should you choose?

Choosing the right bathroom tap is no easy task. It’s important that the tap is functional, attractive, and matches the bathroom’s décor. Of course, the materials the bathroom taps are made from and the length of the manufacturer’s warranty also matter. But is there any point in buying a tap that’s sturdy yet doesn’t fit the bathroom interior visually? Probably not. That’s why you should take all these factors into account so the tap pleases the eye and serves you for many years.

Buying the right bathroom tap is not an easy task. It is important that the tap is functional, attractive and matches the bathroom’s design scheme. Of course, the materials from which the bathroom taps are made, as well as the length of the manufacturer’s warranty, also matter. But is there any point in buying a tap that is solid yet doesn’t visually suit the bathroom interior? Probably not. That’s why all these factors should be taken into account so that the chosen tap is pleasing to the eye and serves for many years.

Bathroom taps can also be categorised by their application. These include basin taps, shower mixers and bath mixers. Naturally, they also differ from one another, for example in the method of installation. So we will describe several types of tap and suggest which arrangements they will suit.

Basin taps

The basin tap is usually the most frequently used tap in the home, especially when a family of four lives there. In such a case, when buying, you should make sure the tap helps to save water. Almost all single-lever taps now offer this feature. However, most models may not suit a bathroom arranged in a retro style. In that case a two-handle tap works best, for example a wall-mounted model or a freestanding one in a gold finish. In modern bathrooms, freestanding taps are also installed, chrome-plated, with, for example, a wide spout. Only countertop basins, which have no tap hole, are suitable for such a tap.

Shower mixers

Buying the right shower mixer is also not the easiest task. Concealed mixers are becoming increasingly fashionable. They take up less space in the shower enclosure than exposed mixers. Such a shower mixer can be installed both in a bathroom arranged in a modern style and in one in a retro style. There are also exposed shower mixers, which give the bathroom a less contemporary look. In both cases you should consider whether to choose just an overhead rain shower or one with an additional handset. The latter option is more practical. A shower panel can also be installed in the enclosure, which can work beautifully with both modern and traditionally styled bathroom interiors.

Bath mixers

Bath mixers can primarily be divided into freestanding and wall-mounted. If your bathroom is designed for a freestanding bath, then choosing a freestanding mixer is the smartest choice. Such mixers are most often used in modern bathroom interiors. Wall-mounted mixers suit any bath, both modern and retro. When buying a wall-mounted mixer you should pay attention to the length of the spout. Buying one that is too short will, at best, end with replacing it with a new one.
