Interior design trends have changed over the centuries. Once our kitchens were large and our bathrooms small—today, expansive bathing areas are in vogue and kitchens are getting ever smaller. It’s increasingly common for a bathroom to include not only a bathtub but also a shower enclosure. That’s why, right after purchasing an apartment or house, you should give careful thought to a proper, well‑considered bathroom layout.
Trends in interior design change over the centuries. Once our kitchens were large and our bathrooms small – today, spacious bathing areas are in vogue and kitchens are getting smaller. It is increasingly common for a bathroom to have not only a bath but also a shower enclosure. Therefore, right after purchasing a flat or house, you should pay attention to a proper, well-considered arrangement of the bathroom interior.
A bathroom should be comfortable, functional and safe. These three factors are influenced by the arrangement of the individual pieces of furniture in the bathroom, as well as the choice of appropriate finishing materials. It is recommended, for example, that the enclosure or bath should have free space around it of at least one metre. At the same time, key bathroom fittings should be placed close to the soil stack. In a bathroom with a window, you shouldn’t place a washbasin or bath beneath it, as it makes it difficult to operate the window freely.
Small bathrooms can be just as functional as larger ones. The key is a thoughtful, inventive arrangement and interesting bathroom accessories. In a small bathroom space, an 80×80 shower enclosure will certainly work, or even one slightly larger. A good idea is to fit pivot doors, with a recess or cupboards behind them where we can hide cleaning products or household appliances. In small interiors, light colours should dominate; installing mirrors is also recommended, as such solutions visually increase the sense of space in the room. In larger bathrooms, we can afford more extravagant solutions, such as placing the bath in the middle of the room.
We usually place the washing machine in the bathroom. But where is the best place to put it? For greater convenience, you can choose a spot next to the washbasin. You can also conceal the washing machine behind a screen of sliding doors. There must be some free space in front of the washing machine. If the interior is particularly small, a top-loading washing machine will be ideal.
A shower enclosure means not only saving space but also lower water consumption. Even an 80×80 shower enclosure can provide comfort. There are currently a range of options on the market from various manufacturers, offering interesting features. Fans of relaxation will surely be pleased by the option of installing jets that rinse the body at different heights. We can even install MP3 equipment in the shower enclosure.
