How to properly clean shower heads and hand showers? It’s simple: remove limescale, prevent damage

Cleaning shower heads and shower fittings is important for maintaining their performance and ensuring an optimal water stream. Proper cleaning not only removes limescale and other deposits but also prevents damage.

Here are some practical rules we should follow when cleaning:

  • Use only soft and clean cloths – do not use abrasive accessories such as scouring sponges or microfiber cloths
  • Avoid using steam cleaners – high temperatures can damage the shower components
  • Use only mild cleaning agents – e.g. those based on citric acid
  • Avoid strong cleaning agents containing hydrochloric acid, formic acid, sodium hypochlorite or acetic acid. Cleaners based on phosphoric acid are only acceptable under certain conditions
  • Never mix cleaning agents
  • Apply the cleaner directly onto a soft cloth and wipe the surface with it. Avoid applying the cleaner directly onto the surface to prolong the life of the enamel
  • After cleaning, rinse the shower thoroughly with clean water

Shiny kitchen taps – how to maintain cleanliness and gloss in your kitchen.

To protect the high-quality surfaces of Rea kitchen taps from the harmful effects of heat, cold, grease and acids, they should be cared for regularly. Systematic and proper maintenance will help avoid potential damage caused by limescale buildup. We recommend:

  • Avoid cleaning taps with aggressive cleaning agents, especially chlorine-based bleach, formic, acetic or hydrochloric acid, as well as abrasive cleaning materials
  • The best choice for cleaning are products based on citric acid or other gentle detergents
  • Do not spray the tap directly with cleaning products — it is best to apply the cleaner on a soft, smooth cloth. After wiping the tap, wait a moment and then rinse it with water
  • To finish, wipe the tap dry with a soft cloth to achieve a shiny effect

Rea kitchen taps, both in stainless steel version and brushed steel finish, are durable and easy to maintain.

Limescale-free tap and aerator in 5 easy steps – see how it’s done!

  • Step 1: Wipe the bathroom tap with a soft cotton cloth; for heavier dirt you can dampen it with water. Most stains disappear easily. Never use abrasive sponges or brushes.
  • Step 2: Limescale usually appears in corners and joints. To prevent this, we recommend using gentle cleaners based on citric acid. Remember to apply the cleaner directly to the cloth first, then remove the dirt by rubbing.
  • Step 3: Rinse the tap thoroughly with clean water.
  • Step 4: Repeat the first step to remove any remaining cleaner and restore a shiny surface.
  • Step 5: If the water stream is weaker than usual, limescale has likely built up inside the aerator. Unscrew it and place it briefly in warm water with a small amount of cleaner. After cleaning – dry it and screw it back on.

Anti-calc: Convenient limescale and dirt removal with one swipe of a finger.

Limescale deposits are not only a problem for the efficiency of the shower, but also make cleaning the nozzles more difficult. Thanks to the anti-calc system, removing these deposits becomes much easier. Most of our shower heads and overhead showers are equipped with an Anti-Calc system that allows you to remove limescale by simply rubbing with your finger or gently wiping with a cloth.

The anti-calc system in showers is a solution that brings many benefits to users. It ensures a clean and uninterrupted water stream while extending the lifespan of the shower. It is an investment that brings comfort, convenience, and saves time otherwise spent on removing limescale buildup.

Regular and proper maintenance of fittings will extend their lifespan and keep them looking aesthetically pleasing for longer.
