Do you dream of a bathroom that’s not only functional but also reflects your individual tastes and style? Designing a bathroom can seem complicated, but with our short guide you’ll smoothly navigate each stage – from planning, through finishing works, to the final result. Be sure to read on and find out how to create the perfect bathroom décor!

How to design your bathroom? Start with a plan

Fitting out a bathroom starts with a well thought-out design, which is the foundation of any functional and aesthetically organised space. Where to begin? Your first step should be to measure the available space precisely. This will let you realistically plan the layout of individual fixtures, such as the bath, shower, toilet and washbasin.

First and foremost, consider your everyday needs and priorities – do you dream of a spacious shower enclosure with a rain shower head, or perhaps a double washbasin to make mornings easier? Seek inspiration too – the internet, interior design magazines and even TV shows can be great sources of ideas for a considered scheme.

Still not sure how to make your bathroom look beautiful? Consider using the services of a professional interior designer, who will help you make the most of every centimetre, advise on materials and propose solutions tailored to your individual needs.

Choose materials and bathroom fittings

Already know how you want to lay out the sanitaryware in your bathroom? Then it’s time to choose materials and fittings. This stage will affect both the look and the functionality of the space.

Start with tiles and flooring – consider both aesthetics and practicality. Ceramic or porcelain tiles are not only durable but also easy to keep clean, and they’re available in a wide range of sizes, shapes and colours. Next, focus on the quality (and the design!) of the sanitaryware. Modern basins, toilets and baths come in all sorts of shapes, allowing you to style your bathroom to your taste.

Another important aspect is the brassware – bathroom fittings such as taps or a shower, as well as other additional elements. Remember, they should combine ergonomics with aesthetics, offering comfort for every member of the household. Don’t forget the lighting, either. Well-designed lighting can transform a bathroom, creating the ideal setting for your daily care routine.

Finally, but just as important, is the furniture, which should be not only beautiful but also functional. Make sure it provides you with enough storage space.

Hire tradespeople or plan the work yourself

If you decide to work with professionals, scrutinise their experience, ask for a portfolio of previous projects and – if possible – check reviews from other clients. Prioritise good communication from the outset. This will help avoid potential misunderstandings and execution errors that could prolong the entire renovation process.

If, on the other hand, you plan to do the work yourself, make sure you have the right knowledge and tools to carry it out. Plan each stage of the refurbishment carefully so you don’t forget anything. Remember to factor in time for material deliveries and potential delays.

Finishing the bathroom space

The finishing stage is when your design vision starts to take real shape. This is when tiles go up on the walls, lighting is fitted to the ceiling, and the floor tiling is laid. It’s also the time to install your chosen furniture and fittings.

Remember, bathroom schemes focus not only on fittings but on accessories, too. Concentrate on decorations that will give your bathroom a unique character. Elegant containers for toiletries, stylish towel hooks and decorative bath mats can significantly elevate the room’s aesthetics.

Finish with cleaning

Finishing the bathroom renovation with a clean-up is just as important as any other stage of the project. Carefully clearing away leftover rubble, used materials and construction dust will finally give you the chance to use your new fittings freely (and safely!).

Thoroughly hoover the floors, and also wash the walls and floors to remove the dust and particles that may have settled during the work. Clean the brassware and sanitaryware to get rid of traces of dust or any glue residue. Finally, wipe down the furniture and bathroom accessories with suitable products to bring them up to a shine.

And you’re done! Enjoy relaxing in your newly created space!
